You see, I still remember when I arrived in Israel from Los Angeles 10+ years ago with absolutely nothing.

I was completely broke, I had no friends, and I had no job…

Not to mention I didn’t speak any Hebrew, I’m not at all Jewish, and worst of all… I’m black.

So, how did I end up a successful Career Counselor in Tel Aviv Israel – who has helped hundreds of English-speaking immigrants find great paying jobs here?

Let me tell you.

And I won’t start my story talking about leaving a great paying job in America before moving to Israel – because none gives a shit about that.

Instead, I will start with why I moved to Israel.

You see, 15 years ago I moved to Israel for love.

I had never been to the country before and truly, I had no clue what I was getting myself into.

But worse of all – I had to start from nothing.

Being in management and leadership roles for over 10+ years before moving to Israel, was in fact worthless.

No one cared about my past successes.

I needed money to survive, and I needed it fast.

So, I signed up to Ulpan (Hebrew school) and found a job in a kitchen on the beaches of Tel Aviv.

It was a horrible first two years in Israel for me, and I became completely depressed.

Can you relate? Well, I don’t want that for you!

Now something you have to consider is that by the time I moved to Israel I had already been on the quest of “finding my purpose in life” for years and years.

And I’m sure you understand exactly where I’m was coming from.

And it was in Israel, during the worst point of my self-pity and depression in which I found the answers to the questions I had been searching for all those years..

“What is the point of my life?”

“What should I do with my life?”

“What is my gift?”

“I know I am meant for more, but I don’t know what I should do.”

And the answer finally hit me.

The purpose of my life is helping others who need my help.

And I’m really, really good at it.

So, with my 15+ years of experience in the field of management, leadership, sales, and customer service I decided to open a communication & sales consulting company.

Truly, I never thought that I would open my own business in Israel when I first moved here… but I did!

And so, I began to use all of my spare time before work and after work (I had a full-time job at a software company) creating training materials, and trying to acquire new businesses / clients.

I started sending our cold emails, and cold calling companies in Tel Aviv, Herzliya, Ramat Gan, Jerusalem, Bat Yam, and Holon. Basically, I was reaching out across the whole country of Israel in my efforts to grow my new business.

Great news was that I was able to find my first few clients!

And something I immediately noticed was at the conclusion of my group workshops, two things would happen consistently happen:

Firstly, I would receive feedback that my workshops were providing massive value for teams.

Secondly, one or two of the students in the courses would privately approach me.

They spoke with me about their struggles not only in the workplace, but also inside of their personal, and private lives.

And one time, a female student actually offered to pay me for a one-on-one session on the side.

She asked me to help her learn how to communicate more effectively, and to help her figure out a better career path.

Another time another student from another, approached me and offered to pay me for my time to help prepare him for a job interview.

Similarly, another student from another workshop, at another company, asked me to help them build their self-confidence.

And this would happen again and again and again…

These wonderful people who I began to work one-on-one with, each had their own unique challenge.

And each time we developed a personalized success plan together and we achieved the exact results they wanted!

It was so fulfilling and joyful for me to see them get what they wanted – knowing that I helped. I was on the right track.

These first “clients” would call me their “Life Coach” or “Career Counselor“, and I am so proud to say that I was able to help them at the time they needed it the most.

At the conclusion of our one-on-one sessions, they each had taken took massive steps forward towards the results they wanted!

Eventually, enough people called me their Career Counselor or Life Coach that I began to call myself a “Career Counselor” and ”Life Coach”.

And that is the (very) short story of how I began life coaching (תל אביב קואצ’ינג לחיים) and career counseling in Tel Aviv, Israel all those years ago.

You see, most people set out to become a trained and certified life coach (קואצ’ר , אימון אישי) or career counselor before ever having a client… and that is not my story al all.

This interesting and fulfilling profession came to me!

And after all these years, I’m happy to say I have helped hundreds and hundreds of people from around the world achieve their goals!

So can you!
